Assessing the manufacture of a piece of jewellery takes skill & experience
When assessing a piece of jewellery, the first steps are to break down the components in which the item has been manufactured using Linda's astute knowledge & experience in the industry. This can only be done over time with hands-on practical experience, this cannot just be learnt in a short theory-like approach in a class room, rather in the field working, living breathing jewellery & the manufacturing components in which an item is created.
Careful steps need to be taken when "Appraising & Valuing" a piece of jewellery & when identifying gemstones
With the rise in new age methods of synthesising and creating imitation fake gem material, this requires trade experience & ongoing education to keep up to date as there is always something new hitting the market, especially with (CVD) Chemical Vapour Deposition Diamonds hitting the market as they have the same appearance & optical properties that are identical to a natural diamond, which makes it difficult to identify even with the trained eye & not easy to distinguish, without the education, experience and scientific equipment by a trained gemmologist like Linda at PJV, with confidence she can identify.
In the market there are always new imitations emerging to fool the consumer in some way, with confidence PJV can provide you a valuation with peace of mind.
